Class Act is a community theatre company, established in 2014 by Chepstow Director Louise Best.
Our Mission is to provide everyone in Chepstow and the surrounding area the opportunity to take part in and learn about the Creative Arts.
We endeavour to give people the experience of taking part in live performance, working as a team, learning new skills and making friends.
We invite anyone with an interest in the creative arts to take part without the need for previous experience or an audition process.

Oscar Wilde’s sparkling comedy of manners comes to the stage in The Importance of Being Earnest.
Packed with mistaken identities, secret engagements and wonderfully sharp wit, Wilde’s much-loved comedy follows Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff as they each adopt an alter ego in pursuit of love — only to discover that maintaining two identities is rather more complicated than they imagined.
With formidable relatives, unexpected revelations and a great deal of confusion standing between them and happily ever after, their carefully constructed deceptions soon begin to unravel.
Join Class Act Theatre Company for one of theatre’s funniest and most enduring comedies — a deliciously witty satire of love, society and the importance of being Earnest.

“Moving to Chepstow only a few years ago, I was looking for somewhere that combined my love for the theatre with a thriving social community. Joining Class Act, not really knowing anyone, I felt very welcome from day one and was immediately given opportunities both on and off the stage, taking on more challenging roles as time went by. Class Act offers so much and being there has allowed me to make lifelong friends, and to really enjoy, not just a great community theatre group, but a fantastic group of people.”

“I might be an older group member… hang on, make that THE oldest member of Class Act, but I am actually still fairly new. I took early retirement two years ago and was keen to get back into performing for enjoyment and sheer escapism. Drama gives me an opportunity to challenge myself; overcoming backstage nerves, learning and remembering my lines (and the odd bit of choreography)! It’s great fun and I am astounded at the way a play comes together to give it ‘life’ in the final week of rehearsals. A director with vision and a talented bunch of actors is all that is required!”

I joined Class Act in 2024 with no prior acting experience other than a school production of Les Mis where I played 'Sailor Number 4'. I joined with the hope of building my confidence on stage; I've got so much more than that! I've made amazing friends and Louise has helped me develop my acting skills in so many ways; I can't thank her enough! It has been a joy, rehearsing and performing. I have just finished a performance as the lead role in Present Laughter (never in a million years did I think I could deliver a lead performance on stage). Class Act is a fantastic group of people who are so supportive and encouraging of each other, I couldn't recommend it more!

"I joined Class Act to see if I could learn some new things about acting having been in societies previously. What I found was more than just a group who would expand my understanding of theatre, I also found a support network, a safe space and the most fun you can have on a Wednesday. I would reccomend this group to anyone who has or has not tried acting before. Aside from learning a new skill, Class Act gives you social and life opportunities you won't get anywhere else. A revelation."
